           Home   > IMS

IMS is a fast and efficient IBM database management system available since the early 1970's.
Data is accessed through an interface: DLI. A request is made, and IMS takes over from there.
You will find links to IMS manuals, books and error codes.
You will find sample COBOL programs that illustrate how to do the following using DLI:
Get Hold Next (GHU) and Delete (DELT)
Get Hold Next (GHN) and Delete (DELT)
Insert (ISRT)
and Update (REPL)
Also you will see a sample DBD and PSB.
The IMS status codes can be found here.
Today IMS is still going strong. Premature predictions of its demise have been proven false. Sometimes IMS is the way to go.
